Keeping your walks
Will I lose my walks if I update the app?
No. App updates never touch your saved data. Your walks, notes, plans, and profile all carry over.
What happens when I get a new iPhone?
Sign in to the new phone with the same Apple Account, install Amble, and open it. Your walks download from your private iCloud on their own — there is nothing to restore manually. Give it a minute on Wi-Fi the first time.
This works because Amble syncs to your own iCloud, not to a server of ours. There is no account to create and no password to remember.
Some of my walks seem to be missing
Check these three things, in order:
- Open Settings › your name › iCloud and confirm iCloud Drive is on.
- In that same screen, find the app list and make sure Amble is switched on.
- Make sure the phone is signed in to the same Apple Account as before, and is connected to Wi-Fi.
Then open Amble and go to Me › Your data. The status card there tells you exactly what is happening with syncing.
I want my own copy, just in case
Go to Me › Your data › Export a backup. You get one file containing every walk, plan, and note. Keep it in Files, email it to yourself, put it anywhere you like. Import a backup brings it back, and merges rather than overwrites — importing twice will not create duplicates.
Steps and Apple Health
My steps aren’t showing up
Amble needs read permission for Health. Open Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Amble and turn on Steps and Walking + Running Distance. Then pull down to refresh on the Today screen.
If you would rather not connect Health at all, that is completely fine — just type your steps in when you log a walk.
The step count doesn’t match my Health app
Amble shows the same number Health reports for today. If several devices write steps (iPhone plus Apple Watch), Health may take a few minutes to reconcile them.
Posters and daily lines
How do I make a poster?
Log a walk, then tap Make a poster on the Today screen. Your name and photo appear on it, along with the day’s line. Share it or save it to Photos.
Where do the daily lines come from?
Amble carries 365 lines — classical Chinese poetry, Western writing on walking and nature, haiku, and a good number of quiet originals. One is chosen for each day, and the selection shifts from year to year, so the same date won’t repeat the same line.
Amble Pro
What does Pro unlock?
- Your complete walking history, all the way back
- Every poster style, with no watermark
- Reminders for walks you plan with friends
- The full set of nature tags
Daily logging, posters, and iCloud backup stay free.
I paid before, on another phone
Open Me › Amble Pro › Restore Purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple Account, your purchase comes back.
How do I cancel?
Go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Amble and cancel there. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. See the Terms of Use for full subscription details.
I’d like a refund
Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If the app let you down, tell us too — we want to fix it.
